Bricklab

Established in Jeddah in 2015, Bricklab is an architecture and design studio dedicated to the examination of design as it intersects with the social, political, economic, and cultural networks that implicitly form our built environment. By consistently focusing on the user’s experience, Bricklab is able to reveal the role of design in society’s broader cultural development. At Bricklab, ‘site’, ‘object’, and ‘users’ are understood as dynamic elements that shape our physical world, enabling the practice to fill the gaps between graphics, prod¬uct design, interiors, and architecture – understanding that these different disciplines are articulations of human thoughts and desires. Bricklab’s team brings a range of experiences and a diverse background in architecture, planning, history and theory. As such, specific research questions are developed for each project, in turn supporting the development of meaningful contributions to any given socio-political and economic context. Bricklab has worked on a wide range of projects on multiple scales, producing planters, designing coffee shops, redeveloping historic buildings, curating exhibitions, and consulting on city-scale masterplan developments. Their diverse work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Salone del Mobile, Art Dubai, and Shubbak Festival.
